The Diamond Star Quilt Block
The diamond star quilt block is one of the many patterns from the Ladies Art Company dating back to the early 1900’s when they published the first mail order catalog.
There are many patterns out there called the “diamond star” but this is one that dates back to the Ladies Art Company.
The diamond star quilt block gives us a star pattern along with the balance of the square.
This pattern uses the nine patch grid and uses squares and half square triangles. So anyone can complete this pattern even though it looks a little complicated.
Think of this as a nine patch grid. So all you need to do is finish the nine “mini” block units.

Cut on the drawn line with your rotary cutter or scissors to separate the square into triangles.
Fold open the square and press the seam allowances toward the darker fabric. Using your plastic ruler, trim the square to be 2½”. Be sure to use the 45 degree angle on your ruler.
