The H Quilt Block

The H quilt block pattern is a nine patch variation that uses the same 9 patch grid system to make this very easy to put together.

If you rotate the blocks when you put together a quilt, it can create various patterns. Be creative in the placements.

This block is assembled in vertical rows from left to right instead of the usual top to bottom assembly.

To complete one block for a sampler quilt:

Block size: 6 inches

Materials:
Fat quarter fabric in two colors
(purple and white)
Batting
Backing

Step 1 - Use the rotary cutting techniques.

Cut 2 patches 2 ½” x 6 ½” from the purple fabric.
Cut 1 patch 2 ½” square from the purple fabric.
Cut 1 patch 2 ½” square from the white fabric.

Step 2 - Row one is already complete with one patch unit.

So to complete row two - sew a white square, purple square, white square.

Row three is complete also with one patch unit.

Step 3 - Sew the rows together to complete the quilt block.

What an easy pattern that is an old classic as well.
