Chain Piecing

For Quick and Easy Quilting Projects

Chain piecing is a time saving technque to use with easy machine piecing.

I know that I am always trying to do more than I really have time to do. We live in a fast paced society. Go to work, take care of the kids in school sports, homework and on and on could go.

We need to use all of the shortcuts for quick and easy quilting projects that we can find to make the best use of our time.

Making quilt projects is no different.

By adding chain piecing along with other time saving techniques, like strip piecing, in your quilt making process you will be able to accomplish things you never thought possible before. Give it a try. You will be amazed at the results.

The rotary cutting techniques are time saving tools that provide us with accuracy for our quilting projects.

Now that you have your strips cut and sewn them together, and then re-cut them into the shapes for your quilting project, are you ready for some time saving techniques?

To chain piece, feed pairs of fabric pieces to be stitched under the presser foot one right after the other, without cutting the sewing threads between them.

After stitching the first pair, take a few stitches without any fabric under the needle, then insert the second pair.

The sewing thread forms short chains between the paired pieces.

Continue the same way until all of the pairs have been stitched. Cut the chains between the fabric pieces after you have finished the sewing.

Press the seam allowances to the darker fabric.

This is a huge time saving technique for your easy machine quilting projects.
